Blackened Heart Ball to show no love

TONAWANDA -- The All WNY Radio Blacked Heart Ball slated for Feb. 12 promises three bands and no love.

The anti-Valentines Day show at Stamps will feature Lower Town Trio, Scathed and Final Decline in All WNY Radio's return to hosting local concerts after taking a hiaitus from doing so for several years.

Joe Kent, host of the ThinkSoJoe Show and lead organizer for the event said, "It's been great talking to artists about performing not only at the Blackened Hearts Ball, but at upcoming All WNY Radio events as well."

Kent called the lineup of Lower Town Trio, a rockabilly band from Lockport; Scathed, a four-piece punk band from Buffalo; and Final Decline, a thrash metal band from Buffalo "a very strong lineup for this first show back, with a great range of sounds."

"This show is still weeks away and I'm already looking forward to booking the next one," Kent concluded. "Hope everybody can come out and have a great time with the All WNY Radio family."

Kent originally proposed a "second-Halloween" anti-Valentines Day affair in 2016 but the arrangement didn't work for All WNY Radio management. This year, owner Scott Leffler along with For The Music Productions owner Greg Burt pushed to make Kent's vision a reality.

While the original plan of the show being a masquerade ball has fallen by the wayside, organizers are encouraging attendees to dress in costume as though it were Halloween Part 2.

"Valentines Day sucks anyway," Leffler said. "Who wants a Hallmark holiday when you can have great music?"

Couples will be permitted. But no mushy stuff.

Tickets for the show are a mere $5 at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m.
